Clinical Site Co-Ordinator

Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust

As a Clinical Site Co-ordinator I am responsible for the co-ordination of the clinical activity within the hospital, which includes patient flow, clinical management and assist in the achievement of government targets. In addition, by night we operate a Hospital at Night system which provides advance clinical skills, patient assessment and treatments plans for patients.

A typical day includes visiting all clinical departments, the assessment of hospital-wide staffing levels. The co-ordination of bed meetings is essential within the role and the dissemination of information out to matrons within the trust to invoke action plans to support the clinical activity within the hospital.

By night the additional Hospital at Night role involves being part of the medical team to maintain the patients treatment plans and to prevent deterioration of patients over night.

I have had several previous nursing roles.  These include:

  • Staff Nurse - General Surgery
  • Recovery Nurse Practitioner - Theatres
  • Ward Manager - Vascular & Urology Surgery

I have undertaken a variety of courses and training to reach my current role.  These being:

  • Dip HE Nursing (Adult) (2000)
  • BSc Hons Health Studies (2006)
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education (2008)
  • NHS Leadership & Management Course
  • Various advance clinical skills
  • Various Human Resources course

As and when the opportunities arise I would like to move into a Matron's position or into a Quality & Patient Safety Improvement role.
